The base trim, the LX, gets an impressive EPA-estimated 42 mpg in combined city-highway driving. The rest of the lineup drops to 35 mpg because they are all-wheel drive rather than front-wheel drive like the LX, but that’s still significantly higher than the gas-powered Sportage’s 28 mpg.
2. Refined Design—Inside and Out
The Kia Sportage Hybrid is both attractive to look at and nice to sit in, thanks to its sophisticated design. The exterior has a clean, modern look, with smooth lines that give it an upscale feel.Â

If you’re looking for a compact SUV with plenty of space for activities, the Sportage Hybrid’s got you covered. Rear seat legroom is 41.3 inches, so adults won’t feel cramped in the back seat.
It also has one of the most spacious cargo areas in its class, offering 39.5 cubic feet with the rear seats up and 73.7 cubic feet with the seats down. That’s plenty of room for suitcases and bags for travel, or for hauling larger items.Â
