Chrysler has issued a recall for 17,277 Pacifica Plug-In Hybrids from model years 2020-2022 due to a faulty battery that may cause a fire.
In a report to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Chrysler said that affected vehicles may have been built with a high-voltage (HV) battery that could fail internally. If a failure occurs, thermal runaway within the battery pack could result in a fire.
Chrysler is advising owners of affected vehicles to park outside, away from other vehicles or structures. The company is also advising owners not to recharge their vehicles until the issue can be fixed.
To resolve the issue, Chrysler dealers will inspect the battery pack and replace it as needed. They will also update the vehicle’s HV Battery Pack software. The new software will monitor the battery’s condition more effectively and identify conditions that could lead to a fire.
As always, this recall repair will be completed at no cost to owners.
Owners with affected vehicles will be notified via mail on or around June 23, 2026. If your vehicle is affected, the VIN will be searchable by June 11, 2026.
Manufacturers issue wave after wave of recalls that affect millions of drivers. While automakers do their best to notify every vehicle owner affected by a recall, they don’t always reach everyone.
